YOUTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TEAM

The Jefferson High School Youth Emergency preparedness Team entered a PSA (Public Service Announcement) Contest for TXDOT. The PSA is part of Project Celebration that TXDOT hosts every year. The Project Celebration PSA contest is a 3 minute video on one of four subjects that involve teen drivers:  teen drinking and alcohol, distracted driving, selt belts, and teen speeding. This year Jefferson chose to make their PSA about the results of teen speeding.  Our teens worked long hours on the production of the PSA, but did not win the contest this year.  We are very proud of their hard work. They were rewarded with a $700 check to be used for student safety at prom or graduation. JHS will use their $700 award for the annual senior trip. This will insure that our seniors are together in an alcohol free environment, that they will not be traveling reckless on the highways, and that they will have adult supervision. Our team is already working on ideas for next year’s Project Celebration.
